A new turf  field  at Pope High School is expected to be ready for the first home game on August 27,  the district announced Thursday.

Installations at Campbell, Osborne and Pebblebrook  are expected to be completed a few weeks into the fall semester.  Wheeler, Kell, Sprayberry, Harrison and Lassiter high schools are scheduled for turf installation later this school year. The final phase, scheduled for summer 2011, will include North Cobb, Allatoona, Hillgrove and McEachern high schools.

The artificial turf fields are among projects approved by voters in the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum in 2008, and are being built at a total cost of $9.3 million.
