Arson suspected in Clayton house fire

A fire early Tuesday that destroyed a Clayton County home was apparently deliberately set, authorities said.

Flames continued to burn through the interior most of the morning. When firefighters arrived at the home, two occupants had already gotten out and told fire crews that the blaze woke them up.

The ladder truck had high power lines to deal with leaving most of the firefighting to hand lines.

Firefighters searched the home for a possible person inside, but failed to find anyone.

Clayton County firefighter, Frank Bryson checks his air tank after an interior attack. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital after "something fell from the ceiling and hit him on the head," Clayton fire Battalion Chief Jacque Feilke told the AJC.

Firefighters worked past daylight to continue to extinguish the blaze.
