A Stone Mountain woman accused of initiating a brawl inside a Gwinnett County nail salon last week was arrested Monday on charges including aggravated battery and fighting in public.

Cell phone video showed Monnessia Wright, 35, throwing a porcelain bowl that smashed into pieces and hit a 17-year-old customer, breaking two of her teeth, said Gwinnett County police spokesman Jake Smith. Ashley Corbett also sustained cuts to her leg, chin and hip in last Monday's melee at Regal Nails in the Walmart on Centerville Highway in unincorporated Snellville.

In the incident report the responding officer described observing "pieces of hair, broken pieces of a bowl and blood on the floor."

According to witnesses, a woman, thought to be Wright, became upset with the salon's pricing and spent the next 30 minutes loudly complaining to workers and customers alike. Screaming and cursing eventually turned to fisticuffs when the woman's children clashed with the child of another customer.

"And from there, it was off the chain," a witness told Channel 2 Action News. "Bowls were flying, glass was flying, hair was flying, braids was flying, weaves was flying, everything was flying."

Two young boys, ages 8 and 11, tried unsuccessfully to break up the fight, described by one witness as "brutal," according to the incident report.

A store security guard followed Wright outside of the store and was able to get a vehicle description and tag number. Witnesses, along with the cell phone footage, linked Wright to the fracas, said Smith.

More charges may be forthcoming against others involved in the fight, he said.

Wright was taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where she awaits a bond hearing.
