The American Heart Association has given its Fit Friendly designation to 13 schools in the greater Atlanta region.

Three of the schools are in Cobb County -- Bells Ferry Elementary, Mountain View Elementary and St. Benedict's Episcopal. Two are in Hall County -- Chicopee Woods Elementary and Friendship Elementary. Cherokee County's Holly Springs Elementary made the list, as did Indian Creek Elementary in DeKalb County, Loganville Middle in Walton County and Wesley Lakes Elementary in Henry County. Fulton County has a pair of schools on the list, Ridgeview Charter Middle and Stonewall Tell Elementary. And Forsyth County has two schools on the list, Settles Bridge Elementary and Shiloh Elementary.

The American Heart Association honors schools that champion the health of their employees by offering fitness programs, increasing healthy food options and promoting wellness in the workplace.
