A dog was recently struck by a car and killed along Ga. 400 after going missing, the Alpharetta Police Department said.

Officers said a call was made at 10:25 p.m earlier this week about a black dog running alongside Ga. 400 northbound near Haynes Bridge Road. Upon arrival, police said they found the dog lying dead in the fourth lane of the highway.

Officers then said a phone number was found on the dog’s collar belonging to Scott Graham Parker, 30, of Sterling Court in Alpharetta. Police said an officer at the scene then called Parker and he confirmed he was the dog’s owner.

Reports indicate Parker asked if officers still had the dog in their possession. When the officers said yes, Parker was then asked if he wanted to retrieve the dead dog. He replied, “Well, he’s dead,” police said.

Police said they asked Parker again if he wanted to recover the dog and he responded, “Call me tomorrow if you need any more information from me.”

Parker then hung up the phone.
