The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $5 million contract to repair and repave 77 street segments totaling 45 miles.

The city initially sought bids for 60 projects for the FY 2020 Milling and Resurfacing Project, according to a staff report to the council. After Allied Paving Contractors Inc. submitted the lowest of four bids, $4.4 million, staff worked with the contractor to increase the number of street segments by 17, and the contract amount, to $5 million.

Three major thoroughfares will be resurfaced at night: North Point Parkway from Old Milton Parkway to Webb Bridge Road; North Point from Webb Bridge to Windward Parkway; and Windward from North Main Street to Cogburn Road.

Five streets will be subject to an alternate pavement repair method, “Soil Cement,” used where the condition of the subgrade is insufficient and traditional milling and resurfacing are not viable, staff said. These segments are portions of Lake Windward, Clubhouse and Mayfield Manor drives, and Richards Circle and Jenkins Court.
