Alpharetta names economic development chief

Peter Tokar has been named director of economic development for the city of Alpharetta.

He comes to Alpharetta from Davie, Fla., where he built that community’s economic development program from scratch. Prior to his time in Davie, Tokar ran economic development programs for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward Alliance, the city of Miramar, Fla., and the Miramar – Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in communications and advertising from Liberty University and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
