Lorenzo Brown, a native of Roswell and a Centennial High School graduate, will join the Toronto Raptors for the NBA playoffs after he was named G-League MVP.

A Roswell native will play in the NBA Playoffs.

After being named the Most Valuable Player of the G-League — the NBA's minor league — Lorenzo Brown's 2-way contract has been converted into a NBA deal.

The 27-year-old Centennial High School grad will join the Toronto Raptors for the postseason.

The Raptors have a 59-22 record this season, the best in the Eastern Conference. Brown is with the Raptors for their regular season finale against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

A 6-foot-5 guard, Brown appeared in 32 games for the G-League's "Raptors 905" this season and averaged 18.8 points, 8.8 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per-game. He shot 79 percent from the free throw line and 33 percent from behind the three-point arc.

Brown's 2-way contract allowed him to play both in the G-League and in the NBA, when the Raptors needed him. Over 14 NBA games with the Raptors this season, Brown scored 32 points and dished out 13 assists in 139 minutes played.

He played 24 minutes Monday night in the Raptors win over the Pistons, tallying nine points and five rebounds.

"That young man does a good job of handling the ball," Raptors' head coach Dwane Casey told Toronto's National Post. "Thank goodness for him... I thought he did a good job of containing Ish Smith and also Reggie Jackson."

Brown played his college ball at N.C. State and played three seasons there before he was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has played with the 76ers, Timberwolves, Suns, Raptors and in China.
