Accused Penske shooter due in court
An former Penske employee charged with launching a deadly ambush at a Kennesaw truck rental business is to be arraigned this afternoon in Cobb Superior Court.
Jesse James Warren, 60, is charged with walking into the Penske Truck Rental and Leasing store on Jan. 12 and killing three people -- Robert Gonzalez, 31, of Dallas, Van Springer, 59, of Woodstock, and Jaider Marvlanda, 43, of Lawrenceville. He also is charged with wounding two others -- Joshua Holbrook and Zach Werner. Marvlanda was a customer and a truck driver for a local food distributor while the other four victims were Penske employees.
Prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty if Warren is convicted of any of the murder charges.
Warren has been held without bail in the Cobb Adult Detention Center since he was arrested shortly after he walked into the rental business with two guns and started shooting.
Warren, of Temple, had been a truck mechanic at the business for four years but lost his job there last July. Records show Warren was having financial troubles at the time of the shooting.
