Jamie Hood, accused of killing an Athens police officer in March, was indicted Tuesday by an Athens-Clarke County grand jury.

The 70-count indictment accuses Hood, 33, of the March 22 shooting death of police officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian and wounding of police officer Tony Howard. Hood is also indicted in the killing of Kenneth Omari Wray, an Athens-Clarke Transportation and Public Works employee who was fatally shot Dec. 28. The incident in which Christian was killed allegedly began when Hood  kidnapped Judon Antron Brooks, 31, who was a witness in the Wray case.

Hood surrendered to police on live television March 25 after a standoff at a duplex in Athens in which he allegedly held 10 people hostage for more than 12 hours.

The 12-page indictment also lists dozens of other charges against Hood, including kidnapping and false imprisonment in connection with the abduction of Brooks and the hostage standoff.
