A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will be in Atlanta December 5-8 to examine all aspects of the Atlanta Police Department policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. Verification by the team that the Atlanta Police Department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation.
Community members are invited to offer comments at a public information session 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave., SW.
Comments will also be accepted by telephone at 478-550-0512 2-4 p.m. on Dec. 6.
All comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards.

Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
