Two Griffin Middle School students were arrested Wednesday after making their fourth prank call in two days to 911, police said.
The seventh-grade boys made three calls to 911 from the school on Tuesday, police said. The first call was to report a fight at the school, and the second call included lewd statements, said Lt. Robert Harvey with the Smyrna police department.
A third call on Tuesday was a fake bomb threat, police said.
“There’s was a bomb at Griffin Middle School. You don’t have much time," the caller said before hanging up.
Another prank call was made to 911 on Wednesday, police said. The caller stated a bomb would be exploding at the school at noon, Harvey said.
The SIM cards had been removed from the cell phones, making the phones impossible to trace, Harvey said.
Smyrna police and Cobb County school police cleared the building both days, but did not find any explosive devices, police said. Police were able to identify the two boys after interviewing students and teachers at the school, Harvey said.
The two boys were taken into custody and confessed, Harvey said. They have each been charged with transmission of false public alarm and disruption of a public school. The boys are not being identified because of their age.
Both boys were released to their parents, and will have an arraignment in juvenile court, Harvey said.
The boys could face suspension for their actions, according to Jay Dillon, spokesperson for the school district. The school principal will address the punishment for the students, he said.
