A third suspect in a brutal home invasion and beating of an elderly Loganville couple was taken into custody overnight.
Police arrested 18-year-old Barry Marquez Partee of Monroe around midnight Thursday night.
Partee is accused of aiding J.J. Blackwell, 18, and Corey Butler, 21, in attacking C.F. Ewing and his wife Epsie at their home on May 21.
C.F. Ewing answered a knock at his door on Covington Street, and the trio told him they were interested in buying his truck.
They then rushed into the home, robbed and beat the couple, and fled with a small amount of cash.
Both the Ewings were taken to a nearby hospital, and Epsie Ewing remains in intensive care, in critical condition.
C.F. Ewing was released, Loganville police Chief Michael McHugh said.
"The shocking nature of the crime has stirred the community," McHugh said. "We have gotten a tremendous amount of cooperation."
Partee is charged with aggravated battery, and other charges are pending, authorities said.
