A second person has been arrested and charged in connection with a video gambling operation at a Fayetteville gift shop, police said Tuesday.

Sameer Syed, of Peachtree City, turned himself in at the Fayette County Jail on Monday after warrants for his arrest were obtained, police said. The 32-year-old is charged with commercial gambling, a felony, and keeping a gambling place, a misdemeanor.

Syed and another person are accused of making cash payouts on video gambling machines at the Fayette Gift Shop, according to Detective Mike Whitlow of the Fayetteville Police Department.

Corina Venegas-Corral, 21, of Riverdale was arrested at the shop April 17 and charged with commercial gambling, police said. That day, search warrants were served on the shop and a home in Fayette County.

“Fayetteville detectives obtained evidence at both locations which they continue to examine, and more arrests are probable,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

Anyone with information about illegal gambling at the gift shop was asked to contact Fayetteville police.
