Westbound I-285 in the Sandy Springs area is scheduled to lose most of its right shoulder starting Friday, March 1, and continuing through July 31 as crews working on the I-285/Ga. 400 interchange reconstruction begin collector-distributor lanes for the project.

North Perimeter Contractors LLC will reduce the right shoulder width from eight feet to two feet between Ga. 400 and Roswell Road, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. Concrete barriers will take up much of the shoulder, separating traffic from construction activities.

GDOT said motorists should exercise caution in the work zone and be aware the roadway will change as crews construct new collector-distributor lanes and bridges. Exact dates of construction may change due to weather and other factors.

The $800 million interchange reconstruction in the top-end Perimeter area of North Fulton and DeKalb counties is expected to be completed in late 2020. Information: https://bit.ly/2jfU8S7
