Could a South Fulton amphitheater be a catalyst for economic development in the area? Fulton County hopes so.

Wolf Creek Amphitheater, which lost money when it opened in 2011, has been profitable since 2013. And with that improvement, county leaders are looking for it to do more for the region.

They’re seeking bids for private management of the music venue, including naming rights. In the short term, leaders hope to bring in more shows with bigger names — and more money for Fulton County. Eventually, success could lead to a performing arts center and places to shop.

“What is the future? We hope it can be a catalyst for something bigger,” Fulton County Manager Dick Anderson said.

But not all residents want things to change.
