Stonecrest Mayor Jason Lary hopes that targeted digital ads will catch the attention of Amazon executives deciding where to build a second headquarters.
The city has hired a Seattle-based marketing agency to use geo-fencing technology so that its "guerilla digital marketing campaign" is seen only when people are on Amazon property in the Seattle area. The ads tout the benefits of Stonecrest and the proposal to create the city of Amazon that is controlled by the company but supported by Stonecrest taxpayers.
Lary said the hope is Amazon decision-makers see the ads, visit a website touting the benefits of Stonecrest and decide to see it for themselves in the coming weeks.
