Gwinnett County will recount the results of a close state House of Representatives race on Thursday.

According to official results posted late Tuesday by the county election office, incumbent Rep. Joyce Chandler, R-Grayson, defeated Democratic challenger Donna McLeod by 221 votes, or less than 1 percent of votes cast. The new totals for House District 105 include provision ballots that were counted Tuesday.

McLeod requested the recount, which is allowed under state law if the margin between the candidates is 1 percent of votes cast or less.

Chandler, seeking her third term, represents one of the most competitive House districts in the state. Both of her previous elections were close.
