Reception to honor first black female head of Clayton water authority

Clayton County officials will honor the first black woman to hold the office of chair of the county water authority at a 6 p.m. reception Thursday. Marie Barber will head the water authority. Oscar Blalock will serve as vice chair. The reception, which is being hosted by Commissioner Sonna Singleton and State Rep. Sandra Scott, will be at the J. Charley Griswell Senior Center, 2300 Hwy 138 SE in Jonesboro.
