Clayton County’s efforts to regain public transit has drawn the attention of a national group of activist nuns. The group known as Nuns On The Bus will be in Clayton on Friday to help the county’s pro-transit movement. The nuns, who focus on civil rights and social justice causes nationwide, contacted Amalgamated Transit Union, which is a member of the Friends of Clayton Transit about coming to the community, FCT founding president Roberta Abdul-Salaam said Wednesday. The nuns will be at the Friends of Clayton Transit headquarters, 6483 Ga. Hwy 85 in Riverdale, at 11 a.m on Friday. Clayton is set to vote on Nov. 4 on whether to join MARTA.
