Johns Creek to open Veterans Memorial Walk

Johns Creek will open a new Veterans Memorial Walk at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road.

The Memorial Walk includes monuments to conflicts back to World War I, women in service, Purple Heart recipients and POW-MIAs. It also includes stone benches, a gazebo and a water feature on 4 acres. Veterans raised more than $475,000 in donations and in-kind services to pay for the monument.

Among those attending will be Consul General of the Republic of Korea Seong-jin Kim, Georgia Commissioner for Veterans Services Mike Roby and author Heather Burch.
