All convicted felons in Georgia would have to submit a DNA sample for a state database under an amended bill approved in the House on Tuesday.

Senate Bill 80 would apply to anyone convicted of a felony, not just the violent felons covered in current law.

The House -- which approved the measure 140-31 -- changed the original Senate proposal to collect DNA from anyone arrested on a felony charge. The Senate must now agree to the House change before it can go to Gov. Nathan Deal for review.
