Unofficial final results show incumbent Gwinnett County District 4 Commissioner John Heard headed for reelection this fall.
Heard beat out challenger Alfie Meek in the Gwinnett County District 4 Republican primary. There were no Democratic candidates.
Heard won about 57 percent of the vote.
District 4 covers central Gwinnett including the cities of Rest Haven and Buford, most of Lawrenceville and part of Sugar Hill.
In the wake of local and state corruption investigations, Meek’s challenge had focused on issues of ethics and economic development.
Heard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this month Meek was “four years late” on the ethics issue. Heard said he wanted to build on the work of his first term.
“We’ve done a tremendous job of being trustworthy stewards of the voters in my term, ” he said.
