Georgia will not cash in on Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s rejection of $2 billion in federal high speed rail money. Georgia had applied for $22.6 million to build a $38 million new Amtrak station but was not among the winners released this week.

Winners included $795 million to upgrade northeast corridor service, to up to 160 mph. Smaller grants will improve a North Carolina line between Charlotte and Richmond, and help develop a line between Dallas and Houston.
