After falling into disrepair and being closed to the public for months, the Sugar Creek Golf and Tennis Center has new life.

The driving range at the DeKalb County recreational facility reopened last weekend. The 18-hole golf course there is still being renovated but is scheduled to reopen next month.

The DeKalb County commission allocated $1.6 million last year for renovations at Sugar Creek, located in Panthersville. Because the  center is not profitable despite rental fees paid by users, the county will also have to allocate additional dollars to subside operations at Sugar Creek.

In addition to updating the driving range and golf course, the renovation also included overhauling the tennis courts and clubhouse.

The Sugar Creek driving range is now open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
