DeKalb residents who attend a community breakfast hosted by CEO Michael Thurmond are encouraged to make a donation that will help local foster children.

The breakfast, to be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Greenforest Community Baptist Church, is technically free. However, organizers are suggesting attendees donate a minimum of $20.

The church is located at 3188 Rainbow Drive in Decatur.

Money raised will benefit foster families who receive services via the DeKalb County Division of Family and Children Services.

During the breakfast, Thurmond will deliver his 2019 "State of the County" address.

He will give a similar speech two days prior during a luncheon hosted by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and Council for Quality Growth. Tickets for Thursday’s event start at $65.
