Homeowner advocate Keli Gambrill won the Republican runoff for the District 1 County Commission seat Tuesday night, setting her up to assume office next year with no opponents in the November general election.

Gambrill campaigned on addressing the county’s budget problems and preserving the rural character of West Cobb.

“I attribute my success to the 14 years that I spent out in the community working with homeowners,” said Gambrill, who led the advocacy group People Looking After Neighborhoods for years.

Gambrill beat incumbent Bob Weatherford, who has served one term on the commission.

In Smyrna, Tim Gould beat Idella Moore for the Ward 6 seat on City Council.
