Clayton County has a new economic development director.
Courtney D. Pogue succeeds Grant Wainscott who left last December to become director of technology industry expansion at the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
Pogue was previously deputy director of economic development for Cook County, Ill., the nation’s second largest county. In that job, Pogue worked on more than 140 projects that generated more than $800 million in private investment and supported 16,000 jobs in Cook County. He also managed the $30 milion BUILT-in Cook Loan program along with that county’s private activity bond portfolio.
Pogue also was founder and president of the Waterworks Group, a Chicago-based economic development and real estate advisory services firm that focused on urban real estate development. In the last decade, Pogue has worked on more than $500 million in commercial and residential development projects such as The Harper Court redevelopment.
He has an masters in Business Administration from Notre Dame and a BBA in finance from Howard University.
