Insurance companies would have to cover patients for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility under legislation proposed in the state House of Representatives.

House Bill 182 would require coverage of tests, surgeries and in vitro fertilization for otherwise healthy patients who are unable to conceive.

The proposal, by state Rep. Pedro Marin, R-Duluth, has yet to be assigned to committee.
