Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed participates in Fulton transportation talks

After months of sending proxies to conversations about Fulton County’s transportation future, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told commissioners and his fellow mayors exactly what he thought about the progress they were making.

“Not only are we not unanimous; I will oppose the referendum on that basis,” he told the gathering, referring to a proposal that would give MARTA access to less money that Reed thought it should.

Reed’s views, Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle said, made him feel like the process was taking a step back when it should have been moving forward.

“It’s a shame he wasn’t engaged earlier,” he said.
