“Dr. Leo Brown is still employed by the district.”

A one-line email arrived this morning from DeKalb County School District officials, a day after the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Leo Brown, the district's chief human capital management officer, had not been seen by other employees since the Winter Break.

Brown, hired as the department's interim director in December 2015, was charged then with addressing teacher recruitment and retention. The district's vacancies are higher now than they were this time last year.

District officials still have not addressed Brown’s absence.
