A Lilburn man was killed late Wednesday night when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a Gwinnett County highway, police said.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said the accident happened about 10:40 p.m. on Stone Mountain Highway near Glen Club Drive near Stone Mountain.
Neal Patel, 29, was attempting to cross Stone Montain Highway outside of a cross walk when he was hit by a 1994 Acura Integra that as westbound in the far left lane, Ritter said. Patel died at the scene.
Ritter said investigators have determined that neither alcohol nor excessive speed were contributing factors and at this point do not intend to charge the 20-year-old driver of the Acura.
