The West African country of Liberia has been hit particularly hard by the current Ebola epidemic. Thomas Duncan, the first person in the United States to be diagnosed with Ebola, was from Liberia and contracted the deadly disease while in that country.
Images of the devastation that Ebola has caused in Liberia has dominated the news in recent months.
Liberians from around the world are sounding off through an online campaign to show the world that they are proud to be from Liberia and that the country and its people should not be stigmatized because of Ebola.
The hashtag campaign #IAmALiberianNotAVirus is quickly taking off. #EbolaStigma is an additional hashtag associated with the campaign.
