A second teenager in Florida has died this summer after diving into a rock mining quarry on private property.
Trey Austin Dagwan Cardoza, 17, was taken to a hospital Monday afternoon after he was found unresponsive in the inactive quarry in Ocala, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The Largo teen died on Tuesday.
In May, another teen drowned in a lime rock quarry in Marion County.
The sheriff’s office said that 13 people were arrested trying to swim in a different private quarry in Ocala on the same day Cardoza was found.
Video of teens cliff diving into quarries on social media has encouraged others to try it for themselves causing an uptick in trespassers and accidents, sheriff’s officials.
