Construction projects will cause some headaches for weekend travelers, including multiple lane closures for the Transform 285/400 Project.
Two lanes on I‐285 eastbound, from the Chattahoochee River to Don Hollowell Parkway will be closed 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, April 30.
One left lane will also be closed on I-285 westbound, between New Northside and Northside Drive during the same time period.
Other construction projects at night may also tangle traffic.
The DOT will close the North Springs MARTA Station on-ramp to 400 northbound from 2:30 a.m. Sunday to 4:30 a.m. Monday to allow crews to restripe and install temporary concrete barriers on the MARTA North Springs ramp.
There will also be construction activities on I-75 northbound at Cumberland Parkway, Wade Green and Barrett Parkway.
For those headed downtown, Atlanta United's 1 p.m. game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against the Montreal Impact likely will cause some congestion.
And Georgia State Stadium, previously known as Turner Field, will host its first concert Saturday night when it brings the Foo Fighters to town. Expect some extra cars heading toward the old baseball field.
Georgia DOT also began Friday a project to permanently close the flexible shoulder lane (“flex lane”) on 400 southbound from Pitts Road to Abernathy Road.
The closure will facilitate the construction of collector-distributor lanes, walls, bridges, and interchange improvements for the Transform 285/400 project.
Crews will remove the existing flex lane pavement markings, restripe the shoulder, and install static signs to further notify motorists of the flex lane closure. The flex lanes north of Pitts Road will remain open daily to commuters from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
