Kohl’s has joined the growing list of retailers that are requiring patrons to wear face coverings in stores.

USA Today reported the department store company announced Wednesday it will require face masks of customers starting Monday, July 20. Employees have been required to wear face coverings since stores reopened May 4.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, face covering mandates have grown to apply to approximately 70% of our store base, therefore we’ve made the decision to take a consistent approach across our entire store fleet,” Kohl’s said in its statement. “Beginning Monday, July 20, we will require all customers to wear a face covering while shopping in our stores.”

Customers will see signage at front entrances of stores letting them know about the policy, the company said.

“Store associates have been trained on the new health and safety measures in place, and we have associate greeters at the entrance of each store to welcome shoppers and remind them to wear masks,” according to the statement.

Kohl’s is the latest retailer to adopt a policy requiring guests to wear face coverings. Walmart, Target, Costco, CVS and Walgreens are among others with such requirements.
