An Alabama man could not bear the sight of a recently widowed woman eating by herself at a restaurant, and his act of kindness has gone viral on social media.

Jamario Howard was eating with some friends at Brad's Bar-B-Que restaurant in Oxford when he saw the woman eating alone, AL.com reported. Howard began talking to the woman, who said her name was Eleanor and added her husband had passed away. The next day would have been her 60th wedding anniversary, the website reported.

Howard invited the woman to eat at his table with his friends, JaMychol Baker and Tae Knight, AL.com reported. Howard said he had a good time, but the encounter also made him think, he said in a Facebook post that quickly went viral.

"The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people," Howard said on Facebook. "You never know what they are going through. This woman changed my outlook on life and how I look at other people. Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people i can't stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!"

Howard's post been shared more than 46,000 times, garnered 170,000 likes and received more than 15,000 comments as of Wednesday afternoon.
