Friends of a family devastated by an interstate accident this month have raised nearly $4,000 to help defray medical and funeral expenses, according to fund-raising website.

A car that had been recently involved in a hit-and-run crash collided with a vehicle driven by Natasha Strobridge as it was exiting I-20 toward Villa Rica April 1. The wreck killed Strobridge's 8-month-old son Langston and seriously injured her 12-year-old daughter Jeniya.

The Georgia State Patrol said Tuesday it is still investigating the wreck that includes the other driver involved in the crash, 46-year-old Douglasville resident Scott Bearden Raymond.

A gofundme.com site was set up to raise $15,000 to help pay for the Langston's funeral, scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral in Austell, said Beth Gaddis, a supporter of the family. The fund is also to help with Jeniya's medical bills, who moved out of the intensive-care unit in the hospital Monday, Gaddis said.

According to a police report, the infant was killed in the crash on the exit ramp from Interstate 20 westbound to Liberty Road when Raymond was trying to exit the interstate.

He reportedly had just been involved in a hit-and-run incident near Ga. 5. On the ramp, he struck the Strobridge vehicle in which the mother was traveling with her two children, the state patrol said.

“Jeniya underwent a 7-hour-surgery Friday night, and has a long road to recovery,” Gaddis said in an email sent Tuesday to The Atlanta Journal Constitution. “She began physical therapy on Easter Sunday…. There’s no word on when she may be able to go home.”
