Buford Highway has reopened in both directions after an intense fire at an abandoned house in Duluth shut down the busy road.

The fire broke out Wednesday morning across from the Duluth Police Department’s headquarters, the agency said in a social media post. Both police officers and firefighters were on the scene of the “fully engulfed” structure.

According to Gwinnett fire, the home may have been abandoned. No utilities were attached to the building, and no injuries have been reported.

Duluth police announced that Buford Highway was reopened to traffic just after the noon hour.

Gwinnett fire has not released further information about what may have caused the blaze.
