Last week’s winter storm caused at least $25 million in damage across Georgia, state officials said Tuesday.

Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said that while insured losses from the ice and snow storm are currently estimated at $25 million, “We anticipate that figure to rise as new claims are reported.”

Tuesday’s estimate was based on claims reported by various property and casualty insurance companies. Hudgens said not all companies have reported.

Glenn Allen, a spokesman for the insurance commissioner’s office, said those with questions about policies or those who are experiencing difficulty reaching their company should call the commissioner’s Consumer Services Hotline at 404-656-2070 or 1-800-656-2298. Those lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
