Three people were injured Friday night when car drove through the front of a Waffle House in Coweta County.

A driver, whose name was not released, and two people inside the Bullsboro Drive eatery were transported to the hospital, but were not believed to be seriously injured, according to Battalion Chief Stephen Brown with the Newnan fire department.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the driver to hit the building, causing significant structural damage.

“It was just fortunate that where it went in, no one was sitting in those booths,” Brown told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It could been a lot worse.”

The 24-hour breakfast eatery will remain closed until the city’s building inspectors can check it, Brown said.
