Hundreds of Georgia inmates escape but how long are they free?

The escape last month of a pair of Georgia inmates attracted a national manhunt. Ricky Dubose and Donnie Russell Rowe were apprehended following a violent three-day rampage that stretched across two states.

A review of state Department of Corrections data by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that hundreds of inmates have escaped since 2009.

But most aren’t doing so from state prisons or transport buses.
