Temps haven’t gotten out of the 40s since daybreak and are expected to stay there overnight.

Expect temperatures to drop into the low 30s , Channel 2 Action News reported. Temps are a stark contrast to the early morning high of 65-degrees the Metro Atlanta hit at midnight.

Temps were 40 degrees in Atlanta, 30 in Blairsville and 41 in Griffin at 9:45 p.m., Channel 2 reported.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for far North Georgia until 10 p.m. and warned of gusts up to 40 mph. Metro Atlanta, which is expected to drop below freezing Friday and rebound to the 70s this weekend, is not part of the advisory.

The freezing temperatures are expected to last well into Friday morning.

But don’t expect the chilly weather to last.

Saturday could see a high of 67 degrees while Sunday shows a high of 72 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain.
