A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted Thursday of molesting two children in Henry County, authorities said.
David Carroll Jr., 33, was convicted of aggravated sexual battery, child molestation and sexual battery. He was sentenced to life in prison, plus 25 years on probation. He also must be registered as a sex offender for life and have no contact with the victims.
During the trial, the children told their stories to the jury, the Henry County District Attorney’s Office said. In 2017, Carroll molested a 7-year-old multiple times inside a Locust Grove home, the DA’s office said. In 2018, Carroll gave a 10-year-old girl Valium and molested her several times inside the same home.
Another child that the Henry County DA’s office said Carroll molested in Clayton County also told their story during the trial. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out to the Clayton County DA’s office for information about that case.
“We are pleased that this defendant has been held accountable for the horrific things he did to these children,” Henry DA Darius Pattillo said. “These kids bravely told their stories, which helped lead the jury to return a guilty verdict.”
