A man known to sell drugs was shot and killed early today by men wearing dark camouflage, Gwinnett County police said.

Witnesses stated that two to three unknown males entered a Snellville-area home shortly before 1 a.m. brandishing guns, according to Cpl. Ed Ritter. An altercation took place before Antonio Macklin, 35, of Lithonia, was shot, Ritter said.

Macklin died at the scene and the suspects were gone when officers arrived at the Haynes Circle home, off Centerville Rosebud Road, police said. Police interviewed witnesses after the shooting.

“Investigators spoke with several witnesses and learned that the victim was known to sell drugs and believed robbery was the motive for the shooting,” Ritter said in an emailed statement this afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide is urged to call Gwinnett County Police Investigators at 770-513-5300.
