Google has released its annual list of top searches in the world.

In a year that saw multiple world leaders change, an unsettling amount of celebrity deaths and the 2016 Rio Olympics, people had a lot to search the internet for.

Separate lists also break down searches related to news, people, technology, musicians and sports.

Although it has declined in coverage and popularity toward the end of the year, "Pokemon Go," the gaming craze that combined the outdoors, indoors and virtual reality, is at the top of the list of searches.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Donald Trump is at No. 3. News outlets across the world covered what was a historic U.S. presidential election cycle.

Right behind Trump is Prince, whose searches climbed after his death at 57 years old in April. David Bowie, another surprising celebrity death to many, is at No. 6.

A less suspected entry is "Slither.io." At No. 5, the game that The Verge describes as a multiplayer, online version of the classic mobile game Snake, is in the middle of the top 10.

Highly anticipated movie versions of comic franchises "Deadpool" and "Suicide Squad" placed those two entries on the list as well.

The overall global list is below:

  1. "Pokémon Go"
  2. iPhone 7
  3. Donald Trump
  4. Prince
  5. Powerball
  6. David Bowie
  7. "Deadpool"
  8. Olympics
  9. "Slither.io"
  10. "Suicide Squad"
