Baton Bob. Atlanta’s favorite street performer for more than a decade has been immortalized on canvas. Atlanta architecture and interior design firm tvsdesign commissioned a portrait of Bob that was revealed Tuesday for the newly christened Hyatt Midtown.
Adairsville. Flooring giant Shaw Industries announced plans Thursday to build a plant in the northwest Georgia town that will employ 500. The announcement comes after a local rival, Engineered Floors, said in May it would invest $450 million to build two nearby carpet plants that would employ 2,400 people.
Paula Deen. A federal judge signed off Monday on a deal to dismiss a discrimination lawsuit against the former Food Network star and her brother. They were accused of race discrimination and sexual harassment by Lisa Jackson, a former employee. Both sides agreed to pay their own court costs and legal fees. No other terms of the deal were disclosed.

Mike Budenholzer. The 44-year-old Hawks coach was arrested Wednesday night for driving under the influence. Through a statement from his attorney, he said that he requested breath and blood tests at the Atlanta City Jail after he was arrested and charged by the Georgia State Patrol. The incident report said he took three of four field sobriety tests after a traffic stop and declined to take a preliminary breath test at the scene following his arrest.
Vanessa Williams. Not the actress-singer, but the executive director of the Atlanta-based National Conference of Black Mayors. She is facing allegations that she spent more than $600,000 of the group’s money on personal items at stores such as Tiffany and Saks. On Wednesday, a Fulton County Superior Court judge threatened to jail Williams for repeatedly failing to supply financial documents requested by the organization’s president.
Brian Banks. The linebacker, who spent five years in prison after a wrongful conviction, was released by the Atlanta Falcons Friday. It is still possible he could land on the club’s practice squad.
