Georgia’s tax collections are up 2 percent in August compared to the same time last year.
Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said Tuesday that tax collections in August totaled $1.35 billion, an increase of $27 million compared to August 2012.
That growth was largely fueled by increases in corporate income tax receipts and new motor vehicle fee collections. Sales and individual income tax receipts, meanwhile, dipped slightly.
State tax collections have been ticking upward this year thanks to an improved economy. Net tax revenue collections since January totaled $2.75 billion, a 4.4 percent increase compared to the same point last year.
