What was tropical disturbance 96L is now Tropical Storm Danny, and it is projected to make landfall Monday night landfall off the South Carolina coast.
The depression strengthened into a tropical storm Monday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center. Danny is the fourth storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predict an abnormally active hurricane season in the Atlantic this year.
The season started on June 1 and will extend through November 30.
