Nicholas Poulos,13, Wesleyan School, grabs his head after defeating Rohan Ramdeholl,12, North Gwinnett Middle, to win the 2013 Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee at Georgia State University on Friday, March 15, 2013. His winning word was fibrinogen. Twenty students from ages eleven to fourteen competed for a chance to represent Georgia in the national spelling bee. The students were from 17 public schools, two private schools and one charter school. The group consisted of 10 boys and 10 girls.
